Siding in Shakopee, MN.

A lot of Shakopee housing went up in the last few decades with entry-level vinyl, and much of it is now loose, faded, or brittle. Add the older homes near the historic downtown and the Minnesota River, and we see everything from a single cracked panel to full replacements. There is no job-size minimum.

What should Shakopee homeowners expect from a siding project?

Shakopee grew fast from the 1990s into the 2010s, adding many subdivisions of two-stories, splits, and townhomes. Builder-grade vinyl on those homes is aging at roughly the same pace, so whole neighborhoods tend to reach replacement age within a few years of each other.

Newer lots are often open with young trees, which means strong sun on south and west walls and more wind exposure. Those walls fade and loosen sooner, while north walls stay cooler and damper.

Older homes near downtown and the river can have wood lap under later siding and walls that are not perfectly flat. We inspect before quoting so the scope reflects what is actually on the house.

Shakopee pricing · 2026

What siding costs in Shakopee (2026)

Prices are per square, with one square covering 100 square feet of finished wall, and include taking off and disposing of the old siding. Most Shakopee subdivision homes fall in the two middle brackets.

These are Midwest Building Exteriors' own current 2026 installed prices, confirmed directly by owner Christian Musta: vinyl $900–$950 per square; LP SmartSide and fiber cement $1,200–$1,300 per square depending on finish; and steel $1,300–$1,500 per square (about $13–$15 per sq. ft.), dependent on various factors. One siding square equals 100 square feet of wall.

Ranges are installed totals in 2026 dollars — removal and disposal of the existing siding, house wrap, flashing and kickout details, trim, fasteners, permit, and cleanup included. They are planning numbers, not a quote. Wall area, number of stories, trim and gable complexity, window count, sheathing repair, and color availability all move the final figure. Repairs and partial-wall work are quoted on their own; there is no job-size minimum.

Which siding is the right fit in Shakopee?

Every system in the table is one we put up, and no brand gets favored. Here is how they compare on the sun- and wind-exposed subdivision houses that fill most of our Shakopee calendar.

Why we default to LP SmartSide — and what the research actually says

Consider this a material-category issue rather than a brand issue. Fiber cement's porous cement body changes under repeated freeze-thaw exposure; a peer-reviewed study measured shifts in its internal structure and flexural behavior after cycling (Gorzelańczyk & Schabowicz, Materials journal, 2019, retrieved 2026-09-16).

Building Science Corporation's Vancouver test hut project, which watched fiber-cement walls over several years, linked their performance mostly to how well water could drain and dry behind the boards (BSC Research Report RR-1306, retrieved 2026-09-16). InspectAPedia's field write-ups on gapped joints and broken caulk lines point the same direction, at clearance and flashing (InspectAPedia field reports, retrieved 2026-09-16). Our view is that LP SmartSide handles Shakopee's winters more forgivingly, and when fiber cement is specified we follow the manufacturer's written instructions without shortcuts.

Is steel siding storm-proof?

Steel keeps its shape and resists fire and decay, but it can still be dented by hail, and adjusters tend to begin with dented gutters and fascia. It is a long-life, low-care material, not a hail barrier.

HOA & association palettes

Will your Shakopee HOA need to approve the color?

Plenty of Shakopee townhome and subdivision associations want to see exterior colors before work starts. We supply physical samples, take current photos of your siding, and write a submittal naming product, color and trim.

If an approved color is no longer manufactured, we locate the nearest available shade and identify it in writing as a replacement.

Larger communities can be phased under one agreement. See our townhome and HOA siding and commercial siding pages.

  • Samples placed beside your current siding
  • Written submittal naming product, color and trim
  • Identified replacement for out-of-production colors
  • Staged schedule for larger communities

Do you do siding repairs in Shakopee?

Yes, with no minimum. A strip torn off by wind, a panel warped by a grill, or a cracked corner each gets its own quote.

Builder vinyl colors are frequently discontinued, and sun-facing walls fade faster, so we let you know when a patch would not blend and price the whole side.

Insulated siding can be included on any Shakopee job and appears on its own line.

Who else does siding work in Shakopee?

Shakopee households are often approached by door-to-door crews and online-only contractors, and comparing them is tricky. We researched the state licensing records for the siding firms we most often compete against in Scott County and the southwest metro.

This is a fact sheet, not a takedown. Each company holds a Minnesota residential building contractor license; records appear as filed, unconfirmed items are flagged, and the decision is yours.

The export's enforcement-action field is marked, but the export provides no action type, date, outcome, case number, or order text; we therefore make no claim about what occurred. • Super Siders — Licensed and active with no enforcement flag on the export. Long-standing license, originally issued 2008. Their own marketing claims about years in business and families served are self-reported and we have not verified them.
  • Minnesota Exteriors Inc — Licensed and active with no enforcement flag, and one of the oldest license records in the export — originally issued January 1992. A separate entity, Minnesota Exteriors Commercial LLC (BC741401), holds its own active license for commercial work.
  • Twin Cities Siding & Roofing — Licensed and active with no enforcement flag. Note the operating entity name differs from the trade name — worth checking that the contract you are handed names the licensed entity.
  • TWS Remodeling — Licensed and active with no enforcement flag. An earlier, similarly named license (BC283598, Window Store LLC The) shows as voluntarily terminated — the current active record is the one above.
  • Garrett Construction — Licensed and active with no enforcement flag; the license number published on their own site matches the state record. The license was originally issued in August 2021, which is worth weighing against marketing that cites a longer operating history.
  • Anchor Roofing & Exteriors — Licensed and active with no enforcement flag. As with several on this list, the licensed entity name differs from the trade name you see on the truck.

License numbers, status, expiry, and addresses below are taken from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry residential contractor license export, retrieved 2026-09-16. License status and enforcement flags change — confirm current status yourself at dli.mn.gov before you sign anything with anyone, including us. BBB accreditation and rating are shown as unverified because we could not retrieve BBB's own published listings at the time of writing; we would rather label that gap than repeat a number we have not read at the source.

Shakopee siding questions

How much does siding cost in Shakopee, MN?
Vinyl is $900 to $950 per square (100 square feet), LP SmartSide and fiber cement are $1,200 to $1,300, and steel is $1,300 to $1,500. A typical 18 to 23 square Shakopee home runs about $16,200 to $21,850 in vinyl or $21,600 to $29,900 in LP SmartSide or fiber cement.
How long does a Shakopee siding job take?
Three to five days for vinyl, LP SmartSide, or fiber cement, and four to five days for steel. Weather, HOA approval, and sheathing repairs can affect timing.
Is it worth upgrading from builder-grade vinyl?
Usually. Our standard vinyl panel is thicker than typical builder stock, and if you want a more noticeable change, LP SmartSide is what we would recommend.
Why are my south and west walls in worse shape?
On open lots those sides catch the most sun and wind, so they fade and loosen sooner. That uneven wear also makes matching a single panel tougher.
Is steel siding hail-proof?
No. Steel holds its shape and will not rot, though hail can still dent it.
Do you handle HOA siding approvals?
Yes. We prepare samples, current photos and a written submittal, and we identify any replacement for a color that is no longer made.
Is there a minimum job size?
There is none. Single-panel fixes and complete re-sides are both part of our regular work.
Do you handle storm-damaged siding?
We take photos of the damage and share them with your own insurance adjuster. We complete the repair; we do not act as your public adjuster.
